We have prepared brief instructions for you that will help ensure a smoother and faster recovery after your procedure.
After the procedure, please follow the medication instructions prescribed by your dentist. The most commonly used medications after the procedure include:
To minimize swelling, we recommend applying ice to the treated area immediately after the procedure and continuing to do so on the day of the procedure and the following day. It is recommended to alternate cooling throughout the day: apply ice for 10–15 minutes, then take a 10–15 minute break.
Swelling will be at its peak the day after the procedure and will then gradually begin to subside.
To further reduce swelling at home, try to keep your head elevated at all times. Avoid lying flat; remain seated when possible and avoid strenuous physical activity, including exercise and training.
During the first few days after the procedure, mild nose bleeding may occur and is considered a normal finding.
If pain occurs after the procedure, pain relief medication should be taken. We recommend Voltaren or Ibuprofen.
In a small percentage of cases, a hematoma (bruise) may appear on the face after the procedure. This is a normal occurrence and should not be a cause for concern. Over the next one to two weeks, it will go through all stages of color change (from purple to yellow) and will eventually disappear.
To help speed up the healing process, you may ask your pharmacist for a suitable product, such as a heparin-based ointment.
For the first few days, eat only soft foods and avoid foods that contain seeds (such as sesame, flax, etc.), as well as very hot food and drinks.
Avoid strenuous physical activity (workouts). Light, moderate walks and spending time outdoors are recommended. During summer, avoid direct sun exposure and high temperatures for a few days after the procedure.
It is important not to brush the area where the procedure was performed for the first 3–4 days. After this period, you may begin to brush the area gently using a soft toothbrush. Within approximately 15 days, you should be able to return to normal brushing with gentle pressure.
All other areas should be brushed normally from the first day (morning and evening).
Please be sure to contact us the day after the procedure and again on the 4th day after the procedure. Describe how you are feeling, including any swelling, pain, redness, or other changes.
After a sinus lift, avoid blowing your nose and forceful sneezing for 3–4 months—anything that increases pressure in the nasal cavity.
We recommend avoiding intense physical activity (sports training, running, etc.) for the first week after the procedure.
