WHAT WE NEED TO KNOW

The implant is a small screw made of high-quality material – titanium and a specially treated surface that serves as a support for crowns and bridges with which we can compensate for a lost tooth or more.
You can install an implant in the Smile studio from 550 Euro. The price of the implant includes analysis, implant, surgical implant placement with anesthesia and post-operative controls. For detailed consultations about your implant surgery, we need a digital panoramic X-ray image and a 3D X-ray.
There is very little risk of failure in implant therapy. Globally, implant therapy should have a 98% success rate.

The implantation procedure is performed by a doctor specialized in implantology, in a modernly equipped dental office with local anesthesia, completely painless. The procedure itself takes a very short time – about 20 minutes for the installation of one implant to a maximum of 120 minutes when multiple implants are being installed.
After implant placement, the implants are left to rest in the bone, in the upper jaw for 4-6 months, and in the lower 2-3 months in order to achieve full integration of the implant with the jaw bone. During this time, the implants are “invisible” in the oral cavity because they are located in the bone.
The day after the installation of one implant, you will be able to perform your daily activities completely normally. You will get from us all the necessary information related to recovery and means to alleviate pain or infection. When installing multiple implants, we recommend resting for 1-2 days.
In order to accelerate healing, the process of implant adhesion and achieve better bone quality around the implant, in some cases we use PRGF-Endoret technology. Immediately before the procedure, we take a small amount of blood from the patient, from which we extract plasma rich in growth factor, which we place on the bone around the implant, which accelerates healing.

We always make sure that the patient has some kind of temporary solution. If the situation allows it, we install temporary teeth on the implants on the same or the next day. Other solutions are possible depending on the situation and position of the teeth.
The whole procedure, which includes implant placement, resting phase, impression taking, making and installing permanent prosthetic work, takes 3-4 months for the lower jaw, or 6-7 months for the upper jaw.
It is a misconception that nothing can happen to implants. Regarding the lifespan of a dental implant, it is important to note that dental implantology is a teamwork involving the implantologist, prosthetist, dental technician and, of course, the patient. In other words, all the links in that chain must function flawlessly if we want a long-lasting dental implant. A very important factor for the longevity of implants is oral hygiene and regular check-ups (1-2 times a year). If careful hygiene is lacking, plaque is formed, which over time turns into tartar, which leads to the withdrawal of gums and bones. In this way, the implants lose their bone support, which in extreme cases can lead to the loss of the implant itself (similar to periodontitis). If the patient is a smoker, the success of the procedure and further maintenance of the implant is reduced.

Dr. Damir Mikšić
Education
He graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry in Rijeka in 1997 with high marks. After finishing his studies, he continued his education abroad (Rijeka, Zagreb, Milan, Vienna, Berlin, Lisbon…), gaining knowledge from world-renowned professors such as Dr. Lindhe, Dr. Dragoo, Dr. Jovanovich, Dr. Malo, Dr. Anitua and many others.
He is a member of the Croatian Dental Chamber. He holds licenses for several implant systems, of which we would accentuate Astra Tech and Nobel Biocare. Nobel Biocare, as one of the few in Croatia, awarded him a series of certificates "recommended clinic for Nobel Biocare implants".
In 2016, he earned a degree in regeneration specialist in dental implantology and periodontology at the prestigious Charite University Hospital in Berlin.
He was one of the first in Croatia to obtain a license for PRGF technology.
Together with his wife he owns a dental practice since 2003. He speaks English, Italian and German.
